Green screen remover for PNGs and sprites
Drop in the sprite, get a transparent PNG. The green is detected from the edges and removed โ including the green fringe that AI cutters leave on anti-aliased edges. Runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How it works
- 1Drop your PNG, JPG or WebP โ a single sprite or a whole batch.
- 2The flat green background is detected from the edge pixels and removed, with the green cast in anti-aliased edges unmixed back to the sprite colour.
- 3Download transparent PNGs โ glow, glass and semi-transparent pixels survive.
Why sprite artists use it instead of AI cutters
Neural-net background removers predict \u201cwhat is the subject\u201d, so flat vector-style art comes out with softened edges, eaten thin outlines and a green halo. This is a deterministic colour-matte pipeline: same image in, same pixels out, every time โ and the green fringe in soft edges is unmixed instead of cropped away.
Frequently asked questions
Does it only work on green?
No. Green is just the most common flat background. Magenta, cyan, blue โ any saturated solid colour works the same way; the colour is detected automatically from the pixels along the image edges.
Will a green tint stay on the edges?
That halo is leftover background colour mixed into anti-aliased pixels. The pipeline unmixes those pixels back toward the sprite colour instead of just deleting them, which is what keeps thin outlines intact.
What about glowing or semi-transparent UI elements?
Glow and glass are modelled explicitly: semi-transparent pixels keep their real alpha and colour in the output PNG instead of being snapped to fully opaque.
Can I process a whole set of sprites at once?
Yes โ drop multiple files at once and use the built-in batch rename before downloading.
